THE BRAND
Founded in 1947 by Nathan Daniel, Danelectro quickly became known for innovative, budget-friendly instruments built with unconventional materials like Masonite and poplar frames. Their signature “lipstick” tube pickups—originally made from surplus radio parts—gave Danelectro guitars a bright, jangly tone that set them apart in the early rock and surf eras. Through the ’50s and ’60s, models like the DC and U-series became cult favorites for their quirky style, lightweight feel, and surprisingly rich sound. Today, Danelectro continues to honor that legacy with modern reissues that capture the charm, playability, and unmistakable tone that made the originals iconic.
