BRAND SPOTLIGHT
Yamaha’s instrument-making legacy began in 1887, when Torakusu Yamaha repaired a school’s reed organ and soon built his own. That first prototype led him to found Nippon Gakki, the company that would eventually become Yamaha Corporation. In the decades that followed, Yamaha expanded from reed organs into upright and grand pianos, harmonicas, winds, percussion, audio technology, and later electronic instruments, becoming one of the world’s most wide?ranging and innovative music manufacturers.
Guitars entered the picture in the 1960s, marking a major turning point in Yamaha’s identity. Their early acoustic, electric, and bass models set the tone for what Yamaha guitars are known for today: dependable craftsmanship, comfortable playability, and a sound that works for beginners, working musicians, and pros alike.
