ABOUT
The Yamaha FG830 elevates the beloved FG series with richer overtones, improved sustain, and a more luxurious aesthetic. Featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and rosewood back and sides, this dreadnought delivers a full, resonant voice ideal for strummers, singer-songwriters, and players who want a warm, balanced acoustic tone that grows even richer over time.
The FG830’s tonewood combination—solid spruce paired with rosewood—produces clear highs, deep lows, and a smooth midrange. The rosewood back and sides add greater depth and sustain to the instrument’s sound . Yamaha’s scalloped bracing further enhances projection and responsiveness, giving the guitar a lively, open feel.
THE BRAND
Yamaha’s instrument-making legacy began in 1887, when Torakusu Yamaha repaired a school’s reed organ and soon built his own. That first prototype led him to found Nippon Gakki, the company that would eventually become Yamaha Corporation. In the decades that followed, Yamaha expanded from reed organs into upright and grand pianos, harmonicas, winds, percussion, audio technology, and later electronic instruments, becoming one of the world’s most wide-ranging and innovative music manufacturers.
Guitars entered the picture in the 1960s, marking a major turning point in Yamaha’s identity. Their early acoustic, electric, and bass models set the tone for what Yamaha guitars are known for today: dependable craftsmanship, comfortable playability, and a sound that works for beginners, working musicians, and pros alike.
